Hatim M. Hassanali is a Toronto, Canada and Mombasa, Kenya based Canadian-Kenyan film cinematographer, producer, director, journalist and serial entrepreneur, having worked with various advertising and production agencies, record labels and NGOs globally.
Now Hatim uses his media experience as Chief Executive Officer at the Mara Moja Group a bespoke advertising, film, digital media, packaging, print, consulting and unique business transformation services agency built for the future. Proudly servicing over 50 industries in more than 25 cities globally. Hatim also plays an active role as Chief Executive Officer, Head of Content at Mara Moja Productions, an international independent full service advertising, film and digital media agency with a forte in creating world-class content for clients who value innovation.
In the community, Hatim assists as a celebrity partner, educator and aid worker at various charities focusing on development, art and education. In 2014 Hatim launched the Mara Moja Education Program (aka FilmEd) which focuses on film, media and artistic education through masterclasses across developing film nations. The first masterclass took place on December 14th 2014 in Mombasa, Kenya, followed by 7 others across educational institutions in Kenya, Tanzania, Iraq and Canada. Several more are slated for popular African cities in the near future. In January 2017, Hatim delivered his first TEDx talk at Mombasa’s first ever TED event alongside celebrity musician Juliani, Kenyan olympic archer Shezana Anwar and several other notable personalities. Hatim is passionate about educational reform, arts education, social economical development and empowerment through innovative technology.
